At the press conference held by the Joint Prevention and Control Mechanism of the General Office of the State Council, the mention that "the coverage rate of sanitary toilets in rural areas has exceeded 60%" once again focused public attention on the "toilet revolution." To implement the decisions and arrangements, fully promote the "toilet revolution," and effectively address the difficulty of accessing clean toilets for rural residents, China will construct a large number of public toilets nationwide.

At the press conference, He Bin, Deputy Director of the Department of Rural Social Security Promotion under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, elaborated on the support for the rural "toilet revolution": "In 2021, the central government allocated over 10 billion yuan from the national budget to support the promotion of rural toilet renovation across entire townships and rural living environment improvement across entire counties. Additionally, incentives were provided to regions with outstanding achievements in rural living environment improvement last year." Local governments have also actively raised funds, investing substantial financial resources in this endeavor.

The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the importance of rural environmental governance, which aligns with the Rural Revitalization Strategy. Given China's current national conditions, it is challenging to achieve full-scale, one-step construction and renovation of rural toilets in the short term.
